Hello, in this site I will teach you how to speed-up your PC or laptop. The steps that we are doing is:
1. Reduce your visual effects and designs. Too much visual effects and designs can slow down your computer A LOT. It uses almost 15% of your RAM memory.
To reduce the visual effects and designs, do the following:
-Right click on 'My Computer'
-Click 'Properties'
-Click on 'Advance' Tab
-Click on 'Settings' under 'Performance'
-Click on 'Visual Effects' Tab and put a tick on 'Adjust for best performance'
-Your PC theme will be the classic version but your computer is a bit faster.
2. Tweak your 'Start' menu. Tweaking your 'Start' menu will make your menus come out faster.
To tweak your 'Start' menu, do the following:
-Click on 'Start' and click 'Run'
-On the typing box, type in 'regedit' (without quotes)
-Expand the following:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Control Panel>
-then click on 'Desktop' (Don't expand it, just click on it)
-on the right hand side, find 'MenuShowDelay'
-when you've find it, double click on it and change the 'Value Date' to 0
-Restart your computer, and you'll see some changes
3. Make sure that you have an anti-virus and anti-spyware protection. I recommend you use "Viper Anti-Virus/Anti-spyware" or
"SpyDoctor Anti-spyware/Anti-virus". They are a bit expensive but I guarantee you, it will do a great job to protect your computer from malicious softwares.
Here's the top 5 Anti-virus and Anti-spyware program:
Name Around Cost (Dollars)
1. Sheild Deluxe $ 39.99
2. Viper $ 29.99
3. Norton 2007/2008 $ 50.00 (Full Time Protection)
4. SpyDoctor Anti-spyware $ 39.99
with Anti-virus
5. CA $ 49.99
Note: The costs may change because of the less-update
4. For browser, I recommend you use Google Chrome than Internet Explorer or Firefox. Google Chrome uses a small amount of RAM memory on your computer when its running. Approximately 33,000 kb is the highest RAM memory that Google Chrome can use while 97,500 kb for Firefox and 107,000 kb for Internet Explorer.
Google Chrome is a free software and much faster browser.
Google Chrome is property of Google and I do not provide it to you as a Paid Software.
5. Clean your C:\ Drive. Cleaning your C:\ drive can save you a lot of space on your hard drive.
To clean your hard drive, do the following:
-Go to 'My Computer'
-Right click on 'Local Disk (C:)' and click on 'Properties'
-On 'General' Tab, click on 'Disk Cleanup'
-It will automatically calculate the files on your computer
-Wait until it's done calculating and when it's done run the cleaner and make sure you delete all the junk files
6. Defrag your C:\ drive. Defraging your C:\ drive can make your computer really fast. What defraging does is... it organizes and compiles all your files, it will put all the lost files on their necessary folder.
Ex.
You installed Google Chrome, and Google Chrome will make a folder on your 'Program Files' called 'Google Chrome' (of course). You never know that you move some hidden files on other folders or just on a place where you move your music, videos and stuff like that. When you dragging stuff, sometimes you drag some hidden files (mostly .dll files).
To defrag your C:\ drive, do the following:
-Click on 'Start' > 'All Programs' > 'Accesories' > 'System Tools' > 'Disk Defragmenter'
-Click on your C:\ drive and click 'Defragment'
-Wait for it to be done and restart your computer.
-You'll see some changes
I will put more tips so visit this site when you got time.
Thank You!
